We strive to create excellence and success for our partnersThe R&D within Smart Textiles is divided into applied basic research, as well as thematic experimental research on one side, and commercial as well as need-driven R&D projects on the other. The research cooperates with the companies to a great extent and the company-driven projects are being supported by research competence within different areas when needed. Technology Lab (STTL)The purpose with Smart Textiles Technology Lab (STTL) is to gather the technical research within Smart Textiles and to work for a joint environment around researchers, Doctoral students and Master students. STTL is built initially in collaboration with University of Borås (THS [the Swedish School of Textiles] and IH [the Engineering School]), Swerea IVF, SP and Chalmers (Material and Production technique, Polymer material and composites). The work within STTL is operated in close relation to Chalmers Research School, Material Science. These parties have worked together within Smart Textiles since 2006 with focus on developing material, especially electro active material. Design Lab (STDL)STDL coordinate thematically experimental research within the design area and is initially built up in collaboration with THS, Interactive Institute and Chalmers/GU (D&IT interaction design dep.). We create a studio environment established upon THS. The work within STDL is also run close together with Chalmers Research School Human-Technique-Design. Company R & DSmart Textiles Business Innovation’s goal is to drive and to stimulate companies towards innovation and development. Business Innovation shall be a natural collaboration partner for the industry in the strategic work to develop tomorrow’s textile products and textile material. Prototype FactorySmart Textiles Prototype Factory is a joint resource for researchers, innovators, companies and others, for development of prototypes and new methods within the area. Through Prototype Factory a Smart Textiles project gets the possibility to develop demonstrative physical prototypes, as well as to perform tests and experiments. |
