Newmedia art, digital architecture, smart textiles and interaction design. Applying technology to art and design is hotter than ever. In November 2011, researchers from all over the world will meet at the Ambience 11 international conference in Borås to exchange ideas and experiences.
“With smart textiles as a major research area at the School of Textiles, Borås is a prime location for a conference on this theme,” says Agneta Nordlund Andersson of the Chair Organization Committee.

The third edition of Ambience is being realised on the 28th to 30th of November. A novelty for this year’s edition is that researchers can send in more than papers.
“We also want people to send in objects to be displayed at the exhibit that will be on during the conference,” says Agneta Nordlund Andersson.

Groundbreaking speakers and Syntjuntan.

The keynote speakers at the conference, Alex Andriaansen, Anna Kindvall and Lars Gustav Midböe, are all groundbreaking in their respective field. They will discuss the challenges of the future, how technological and artistic cooperation cooperate.
“We are looking forward to very exciting lectures and a unique chance to take a look at many different disciplines all at once.”

The entertainment too, will be technology related. "Syntjuntan" is a group of women who have built their own instruments and who play artistically experimental music.

The Ambience 11 conference is a partnership between the University of Borås, Tampere University of Technology and Smart Textiles.

The deadline for submitting papers and exhibit proposals is the 1st of April.
